Lifeline services have been restored in Canada after a nationwide outage
Canada's Lifeline service is back online after an overnight outage that left customers unable to call for help.
Canada's Lifeline, a medical alert service that offers devices that can call for help at the push of a button, went down around 11:30 p.m. Friday. The outage lasted about 12 hours and was restored shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday.
A spokesperson for the company told CTV News Toronto that their customers were notified of the outage on Saturday morning and were told to call 911 if they needed help.
The company spokesperson said: "The safety and well-being of our subscribers is always the priority of our business and Lifeline employees. "We are focusing on their needs and doing everything we can to support them now."
A spokeswoman for the company said extra staff had been called in for the weekend to support customers as calls resumed.
The exact cause is still unknown.
