Laying off 12 full-time employees from TIFF
The Toronto International Film Festival laid off 12 full-time employees in various departments on Thursday.
Judy Long, TIFF's vice president of public relations and communications, cited problems caused by the pandemic and this year's Hollywood strikes as the reason for the move. The company will also lose its main sponsor, Bell, at the end of this year. The layoffs come three months after TIFF hosted a lackluster run of its annual film fair in September due to a Hollywood actors' strike. Famous stars were not present.
