Hwy. 17 traffic complaint leads to impaired, other charges
Provincial police arrested a 33-year-old man from Groenhorst after another driver reported that he was driving under the influence.
Police officers from the West Nipissing Provincial Police Department were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a possible drunk driver traveling on Route 17 in West Nipissing. The incident happened around 2:25 pm on January 3.
The vehicle was located and the driver was taken to the police station for further tests, police said.
The driver was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving with a suspended license, having a suspended license, no insurance, having an obstructed license plate, improper lights and guards, driving with an open container of liquor, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. .
In addition to the charges, the driver's license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was placed in a police parking lot for seven days, with the owner paying for the parking.
The man was released and is scheduled to appear in a North Bay court on February 6 to answer to the charges.
