Halton police announced the discovery of several stolen cars valued at $200,000
Halton Police and Canada Border Services Agency have recovered four stolen cars worth approximately $200,000. This investigation is related to the seizure of 24 stolen vehicles in March 2023 that were being taken to Dubai for resale, including a Rolls Royce 500. A thousand dollars, which brings the total value of stolen cars to about 2.1 million dollars.
On Wednesday, Halton Police announced that four stolen cars were part of the case, but authorities were unable to recover two containers carrying the stolen cars before they arrived in Dubai.
In late January, authorities recovered a Lexus SUV that had originally been stolen from the Halton area, two stolen Ford 150s from the Peel and Toronto areas, and a Range Rover from the Peel area. The value of these four cars is approximately $200,000.
"These cars are typically stolen when the suspects enter the car and reprogram the ignition computers, allowing them to start the car using a new key," a police spokesperson wrote in a statement. "The cars are then either transported to the Port of Montreal or loaded into Toronto shipping containers and transported by rail to Montreal."
