Fraud of 2 thousand dollars from a Canadian citizen under the pretext of traveling to Brazil
In October, Sam decided to go to Brazil to see his girlfriend. He searched for travel service companies on Google and found a website with the same name and address as a reputable travel company. He then booked a ticket to travel to Brazil and paid $2,200.
After paying, Salam could no longer contact this travel service office. He had booked his ticket through the Canada Flight Center and when the original ticket to Brazil did not arrive, he decided to go to the flight center in person. There he realized that he had been scammed.
"We're seeing a lot of scam websites impersonating Flight Center Canada," said Flight Center Canada CEO Chris Lynes. "In many of these scams, people only find out that they have been scammed when they go to the airport to go on a trip."
According to the Canadian Flight Centre, fake travel sites have managed to scam travelers out of thousands of dollars on fake trips.
