Calgarians are being urged to be on the lookout for trick-or-treaters this Halloween
Thousands of Calgary kids will come out Tuesday night and dress up in their best costumes, from goblins to giants to some of the most popular costumes of 2023, like Barbie, from this summer's blockbuster movie.
Tricksters are getting ready to tackle scares and haunted houses across town for Halloween.
As Halloween revelers tackle the scares, Calgary emergency officials want to make sure all kids are safe as they walk the sidewalks this evening.
For the 29th year, the city's safety partners have teamed up to offer tips and tricks for Halloween safety.
Firefighters, bylaws, police and EMS are reminding parents and children to be aware of their surroundings, carry cell phones, and watch out for vehicles and follow the rules of the road.
Avoid very dark clothing or black clothing if possible, said EMS spokesman Adam Loria.
Instead, try opting for brightly colored clothing or accessorizing with some reflective tape or real clothing to make yourself a little more visible.
Luria adds that having masks that fit well and don't block your vision can be key to safety, or hypoallergenic makeup is a good alternative to masks.
