Border officers arrest man accused of smuggling banned firearms into Canada

An Aurora, Ontario man is facing multiple weapons-related charges after Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) agents seized packages that reportedly contained various prohibited weapons.

According to the CBSA report, agents at international mail and cargo processing centers in Mississauga and Vancouver seized packages that were falsely declared to the same address.

Officials say the packages also contained 3D manufacturing equipment typically used to make small arms such as the AR-15 (semi-automatic rifle).

The CBSA says Border Patrol agents searched the defendant's home in Aurora last November and found prohibited 3D-made weapons, prohibited 3D-printed devices, a restricted 3D-printed weapon, 3D printers, multiple suppressors and prohibited suppressor parts, and parts, tools and accessories. The additional AR was confiscated.

The 33-year-old man accused in this investigation is scheduled to appear in court this week to answer his charges.
