Be prepared for more traffic and parking challenges as school year begins: city officials
Windsor city officials are warning residents of increased traffic and increased demand for parking near schools and residential neighborhoods.
As students, parents and school staff return to their normal routines, the streets will be busier.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down and be more alert, especially during peak travel times, as well as allow extra time for their journeys.
"Safety is our top priority," said Bill Kravlonski, parking services coordinator. "We ask everyone to be patient and cautious when students return to school. Please follow the speed limit, obey the traffic lights and watch out for children crossing the street."
City officials are also asking residents to follow parking rules near schools. As the number of cars on the road increases, parking spaces may become scarce, especially in residential areas close to schools. Residents are asked to obey all signs and parking restrictions to avoid fines.
City officials encourage the use of public transportation, walking or biking to school as much as possible to reduce congestion.
