B.C. man captures video of 2 bear cubs waking from winter slumber
A family in Prince George, British Columbia, witnessed an amazing scene on their winter hike in January. They managed to film a female bear and two bear cubs waking up from hibernation.
Sergey Wolf lives with his wife and two children on a rural property in north-central British Columbia, about 500 kilometers north of Vancouver.
While walking in the forest, Sergei's 4-year-old daughter noticed a hole in the ground. Sergei immediately guessed that this hole was a bear's den.
His doubt turned to certainty when he heard a soft moaning from inside the nest. He guessed that the sound belonged to the bear cubs.
Sergei set up a camera trap to monitor the den, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to see the bears coming out. However, in one of the camera images, he saw a wolf inspecting the nest, which he found very exciting.
Finally, on March 19, the female bear came out of the den, yawned and ate some snow.
This incident was a reminder that nothing is certain in nature and animals may be exposed to various dangers such as attack by predators or natural death.
