A restaurant chain charges its customers a carbon fee
A restaurant chain in the Toronto area charges a carbon fee to all of its customers. Goodfellas Wood Oven Pizza has seven locations across metropolitan Toronto and now adds a 2% carbon fee to all orders. Below are the receipts for this restaurant. "What we eat causes climate change. "Adding 2 percent to every bill offsets our carbon footprint."
According to the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses, as long as the restaurant doesn't tax its carbon cost, what it's doing is perfectly legal. Some others also stated that if this additional cost remains at 2%, there is no problem and they will still go to this restaurant, but if this amount increases and reaches, for example, 10%, they prefer to stay at home and cook by themselves.
