A restaurant chain in the Toronto area charges a carbon fee to all of its customers. Goodfellas Wood Oven Pizza has seven locations across metropolitan Toronto and now adds a 2% carbon fee to all orders. Below are the receipts for this restaurant. "What we eat causes climate change. "Adding 2 percent to every bill offsets our carbon footprint."

According to the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses, as long as the restaurant doesn't tax its carbon cost, what it's doing is perfectly legal.
