The fire engine along with dozens of houses were burnt in the Van fire

On a Monday, in the aftermath of a widespread fire in Van, around twenty homes, including one of the crucial firefighting equipment, were lost. Firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 4 AM on Simmons Street and were immediately confronted with black smoke and flames in one of the complexes. The north wind exacerbated the blaze, causing it to quickly spread to adjacent complexes, and three alarm bells sounded. Approximately 60 firefighters and 14 fire trucks were deployed to combat the fire. This fire engulfed 20 to 30 vacant units on the premises. Grant Moffat, the Deputy Chief of the Van Fire Department, stated that a fire truck that had entered the scene was engulfed in flames and couldn't be moved due to the rapid spread of the fire. As a precaution, several homes around the complex were evacuated, and no injuries have been reported.
