Seizure of one ton of drugs worth 90 million dollars by Toronto police

Toronto police announced that during Operation Finito, about one ton (one thousand kilograms) of drugs, worth up to 90 million dollars, were seized by Toronto police officers. The operation, which lasted for three and a half months, led to the identification and investigation of a large ring of importation and distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine in the GTA region. Also, the members of the drug traffickers ring who were involved in these big drugs were identified and arrested.

Police reports show that seven residents of Toronto, Ajax, Mississauga and Etobicoke, aged between 20 and 43, were also arrested as suspects related to these drugs. Of these, five were released on bail.

During this operation, Toronto police officers managed to seize 551 kilograms of cocaine and 441 kilograms of methamphetamine, which in total was about 992 kilograms of drugs. Also, in this operation, a firearm, a vehicle, and more than $95,000 in cash obtained from criminal activities were seized.

Toronto Police Superintendent Greg Watts said in a press conference that this unprecedented amount of drugs has been discovered in Toronto and is an honor. He also emphasized that a change in the way the country's borders are protected is necessary, adding: "We have the largest undefended border in the world, which has exposed us to the illegal importation of drugs and firearms, with a significant impact on the safety of our society." . "Toronto is now a major drug distribution center not only in Ontario but also in eastern, central and western Canada."
