After defeating the Western team, Montreal will face the University of British Columbia team

On Saturday, the Montreal Carabiniers and the University of British Columbia advanced to the Vanier competition with emphatic home victories. The Carabins cruised to a 29-3 victory over the Western Mustangs in the U-Tech game at the CEPSUM Sports Centre, while UBC defeated the St. France Xavier X-Men 47-17 in the Mitchell game at Vancouver's Thunderbird Stadium.

In Montreal, quarterback Jonathan Senecal gave the Carabines the lead with a 6-yard pass to William Lego in the final minutes of the first quarter. Running back Carl Chabot added a 1-yard touchdown in the final minutes of the second quarter. Montreal led 24-0 at halftime.

Carabiniers kicker Philippe Boyer was perfect with four punts from various distances, the longest of 42 yards, as well as two turnovers and a rouge. The West's only score came on Brian Gritty's 21-yard field goal in the final minutes of the third quarter. Montreal tied the score with an extra point in the fourth quarter. Sencal was Montreal's leading rusher, completing 21 of 28 attempts for 228 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, and was also the team's leading rusher with 38 yards on six carries.
