A Canada-wide recall of a Costco salad kit due to the presence of Listeria bacteria

Costco has issued a Canada-wide recall of one of its salad kits due to concerns about Listeria bacteria.

In the statement of this recall, which was published on the wholesale website of Costco, it warned customers who recently purchased Taylor Farms Mexican Style Street Corn Chopped Salad Kit not to eat it. For kits purchased between January 12th and issued February 6th, due to the recall of Cotija cheese in the United States, which is also an ingredient in this kit.

Cheese and other dairy products company Rizo-López Foods recalled Queso Fresco and Cotija cheeses in the United States on February 6 due to the presence of Listeria bacteria.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 23 people have been hospitalized due to the outbreak of this disease in the United States and two people have died.

Food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell bad, but it can still make you sick.

Symptoms can include fever, nausea, muscle cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, muscle aches and stiff neck, according to Health Canada.
