Three pharmaceutical companies have issued recalls for some of their generic drugs

According to Health Canada, three pharmaceutical companies have recalled many of their generic prescription drugs because of concerns about the performance of their products. Three companies, Accel Pharma, Mint Pharmaceuticals and Pharmascience have issued recalls for the following products.

Ondansetron ODT by Accel to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, Mint-Betahistine to reduce frequent dizziness associated with Ménière's disease and PMS-Pirfenidone to treat a serious and long-term lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is used

The Ministry of Health said in its recall notice: "The products in question are no longer safe and effective." "These companies have stopped selling them and are recalling these drugs until more data is provided to show they are safe and effective."

Consumers are asked to return the products in question to their local pharmacy.
