Lionel Messi is coming to Toronto
According to the MLS men's soccer league, the world soccer legend is officially coming to Toronto and will play at BMO Field next summer. This match will be held on October 5 at 19:30. Since Messi plays for Inter Miami, Toronto FC will also travel to Florida to play against him on July 17 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket details are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Messi, who officially signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Inter Miami last July, has played in just six MLS games for the club in 2023, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
But in the League Cup, a tournament involving teams from MLS and Mexico's Liga MX, Messi showed his skills, scoring 10 goals in just seven games to lead Inter Miami to the title.
Messi was in the Barcelona club for almost two decades, but in 2021, he left for Paris Saint-Germain, France. Having won a record eight Ballon d'Or awards as the best player in the world, he reached the peak of his career in 2022 at the age of 35 when the Argentine team won the World Cup in Qatar.
