Will the Eglinton Crosstown project be delayed again?
The final test of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT has been halted, according to sources familiar with the matter. The reason for the halt is said to be a collision between two trains during the test.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation said no one was injured in the incident, but further details about the exact cause of the accident have not yet been released.
The Eglinton Crosstown project, which began in 2011, has been repeatedly delayed due to technical problems, design changes and cost overruns. The line was scheduled to open this fall after a 30-day test, but with the current suspension of testing, it is unclear when it will reopen.
