Toronto firefighters rescue man who fell into sinkhole in Yorkville
Toronto firefighters rescued a man who fell into a ditch and was stuck for about half an hour on a snowy Friday night in Yorkville.
Toronto Fire Chief Sophie Lasiuk said emergency crews were called to an alley next to a church near Dawnport and Bay streets shortly after 10:30 p.m.
He said the man was walking through the buildings when he fell into the ditch.
The hole was about 4 feet deep, but not very wide, and rescuers had to dig around the hole to get the man out, Lasiuk added.

The man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
"I don't know why the pothole is there, but they're notifying Toronto Public Utilities to take action to address and fix the hazard," Lasiuk said.
Images released from the scene show that the area is blocked with police tape and two large trash cans are placed next to it.
