The son of the Flyers' general manager was placed on a probationary program to push a wheelchair
On July 20, 2023, the son of Philadelphia Flyers general manager Charles Gilbert was placed on a two-year probationary program. The program came after Gilbert injured a fan by shoving him during a game between the Flyers and the New York Rangers on June 11, 2023.
Gilbert was 19 at the time and was watching the game with his father, Charles Gilbert. During the game, the fan got out of his wheelchair and started walking towards the field. Gilbert then pushed the fan and knocked him to the ground.
This incident caused anger from people and was quickly criticized. He initially apologized, but then claimed that the fan had insulted him.
Ultimately, Gilbert was sentenced to a two-year probationary program. This program includes the following:
50 hours of public service work
12 hours of training on discrimination
Payment of compensation to the fan
Gilbert must also refrain from participating in any professional sports in Philadelphia.
This incident shows how to treat different people with respect.
