Despite videos circulating on social media claiming to know the whereabouts of the Joker of Toronto, the search for this man, who is wanted across Canada, continues.
Michael Stamatatos, a 31-year-old federal offender, is on the run due to a breach of his legal freedom. Last month, videos were uploaded to a TikTok account named "Toronto's Joker," depicting a man who resembles Stamatatos and appears to mock the Toronto police. In one of these videos, he is seen standing in front of a Toronto police car with his tongue sticking out. This TikTok account was subsequently either deleted or suspended.
Recently, a video has been circulating in the online space, showing an individual being arrested outside a house in Oshawa. Many claimed that the suspect in question is Stamatatos. However, a spokesperson for the Durham Regional Police stated that this incident is unrelated to the search for Stamatatos. The Ontario Provincial Police announced on Friday that despite what has been circulating on social media, the search for Stamatatos is ongoing.
Stamatatos is currently serving a two-year sentence for multiple crimes, including arson, eluding the police, and uttering death threats. He has several tattoos, including a heart and teardrop with "SD KEYZ" on his left cheek, "THE WORLD IS MINE" on his left hand, "SPARTON" on the right side of his neck, and stitching marks on both cheeks.
