Renting a bedroom in Toronto that looks more like a prison cell
Trying to find an affordable place in Toronto's expensive real estate market can be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Meanwhile, tenants in the metropolis of Toronto have seen everything from beds in the kitchen to shared rooms and more. But the latest rental advertised on Facebook is a $500 one-bedroom in Scarborough that looks more like a prison cell or a dungeon!
"This is what you can rent for $500 in Scarborough, Ontario," wrote one advertiser of the rental unit. You get a bedroom in a cold cellar/jail cell, but at least it has a bed, desk and lamp and is fully furnished. Also, this beautiful window brings you a lot of natural light."
Photos of this rental unit were also published on Reddit, which drew hundreds of comments and reactions. "Looks like a horror movie," wrote one person. "Imagine that you have to live in this black hole and you have to pay for it!"
While some people urged tenants to avoid renting these units, others pointed out that those looking for affordable accommodations probably shouldn't be looking for too many luxuries.
