Police warning to citizens about fake snow removal companies
Toronto police are warning people to be on the lookout for scams from snow removal companies across the city.
In most cases, the suspects use social media to advertise their snow removal services and ask citizens to pay in advance, a police spokesman said. It is said that the suspects of this fraud scheme do not show up to clear the snow after receiving the money.
Police shared a few tips, including being wary of snow removal companies that ask for payment before doing any work, and not making rash decisions about hiring a snow removal company.
"Do your research and then choose a reputable company and ask them for a detailed written contract," a police spokesperson wrote in a statement.
