NDP parodies B.C. Conservative campaign promises with McRib post
British Columbia's New Democratic Party (NDP) has reportedly claimed responsibility for a satirical social media post in which British Columbia Conservative Party Leader John Rastad promised to bring back McDonald's McRib sandwiches. The post was published Sunday night as an NDP news release and was accompanied by the British Columbia Conservative Party logo.
An NDP spokesperson, who asked not to be named, said in a statement: "This news release is a joke put out to make fun of John Rastad, who repeatedly makes promises he can't keep, with no plan and no opportunity for the media to ask questions." NDP Leader David Abbey has been asking Rastad to release his party's election manifesto for the past week. Rastad also announced in a press conference in the city of Suri that he plans to publish the complete and cost-measured election plan of his party on Tuesday, five days before the October 19 election.
Also on Sunday night, Rastad released news statements in which he strongly criticized the NDP's tax policies and provided details of the Conservative Party's plan to reform the public education system in British Columbia.
