Measles has been identified in Ontario adults who recently traveled from Toronto's Pearson Airport
Another confirmed case of measles has been identified in an Ontario adult who recently traveled abroad through Toronto's Pearson International Airport.
Durham County Health confirmed the case on Wednesday, saying the person was isolated at home.
Officials say people may have been exposed to the disease if they were in Terminal 3 at Toronto's Pearson Airport on March 8 between 5:24 p.m. and at 20:45
People on board Royal Jordanian Airlines flight RJ271 that departed Jordan at 10:43 a.m. local time on March 28 and landed in Toronto at 5:34 p.m.
Symptoms can begin up to 21 days after exposure and include a red rash, fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and fatigue. People can also have unusual white patches in their mouth.
People experiencing symptoms should stay home and contact their primary care provider or call the Durham Health Hotline at 905-668-2020 or 1-800-841-2729 to see a public health nurse. to speak
Ontario public health data showed nine laboratory-confirmed cases of measles in the province as of March 27, not including the latest case in Durham Region.
All but one have been linked to the trip. The last case occurred in an individual exposed to an unknown source.
In all of 2023, seven cases of measles have been reported in Ontario.
