Man, 53, charged in connection with downtown Hamilton stabbing
Hamilton police have arrested a 53-year-old man in connection with a stabbing incident that sent one person to hospital.
According to the police, the incident happened on Thursday evening around 7:00 p.m. near 135 Mary Street in downtown Hamilton. After arriving at the scene, the officers found the victim who had been stabbed in the chest.
The victim was immediately taken to the hospital and underwent life-saving surgery. However, police said in a statement on Saturday that the victim's condition remains critical.
The accused was arrested at the scene of the incident and charged with aggravated assault. Police have not released the suspect's identity but said he is a Hamilton resident.
The details of the incident are still under investigation and police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact 10th Precinct detectives at (905) 546-3833 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
