Jasper National Park wildfire evacuees are being directed to use an alternate route back to Alberta
Officials have asked evacuated residents of Canada's Jasper National Park to use an alternate route to return to Alberta.
A massive fire that started on Saturday in this park has caused the evacuation of more than 1000 people from their homes and residences.
Thick smoke and flames have blocked the main routes back to Alberta, and officials are directing people to take an alternate route to save lives.
The new route is longer and more time-consuming, but it is safer and avoids smoke and fire.
Officials have asked people to be patient and follow safety instructions.
It is not yet clear how long the fire will continue and how much damage it has caused.
Firefighting teams are trying to contain the fire, but the heat and strong winds are making their work difficult.
