Guelph council approves new parks and recreation master plan
A plan has been approved by the Guelph City Council that maps out future recreation needs in the Royal City over the next decade.
The comprehensive plan of parks and recreation of the city was approved in the meeting on Tuesday.
The 130-page document contains 97 recommendations with a total price tag of $17.35 million.
Kan. Dominic O'Rourke said. As the city's diversity increases, do parks meet these needs? Are the parks and recreational facilities and programs responsive to the needs and capabilities of the elderly?
Five amendments to the master plan were tabled by Coun. Erin Cotton. His moves covered accessibility issues such as wheelchair users being able to use playground equipment.
"I think we're making great strides toward inclusion and equality," Cotton said. “There is a lot of love in the parks and recreation master plan. "With a few small metrics, we can make this 100 percent complete."
