Four grants and government payments for Canadian citizens in December 2023 and January 2024
The Canadian government has decided to provide a series of financial assistance and tax refunds to help citizens cope with the rising cost of living. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is expected to make the next four payments to eligible individuals on December 13, 2023 and January 2024.
The GST/HST tax relief, which is paid quarterly and tax-free to reduce the tax burden on low- and middle-income families and individuals, will reach taxpayers on January 5 and April 5, 2024. The amount of this tax assistance can be up to $496 for single people, $650 for couples and $171 for each child under 19 years old.
Also, Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payments to eligible families are scheduled on December 13, 2023 and January 20, 2024. This financial aid is paid monthly and tax-free in order to support the costs of raising a child.
The Advanced Canada Worker Assistance Payment (ACWB) is also scheduled to reach low-income workers on January 12, 2024. This refundable tax assistance is designed to support low-income individuals and families.
Finally, the Climate Action Payment (CAIP), which is designed to help individuals and families offset the costs associated with federal polluter taxes, will be paid on January 15, 2024. This financial aid is seasonal and includes the basic amount plus an increase for the residents of small and rural areas.
Note that CRA payment dates can change, so it's always a good idea to check back with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for possible updates.
