Former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney has died at the age of 84
Brian Mulroney, the 18th Prime Minister of Canada, has died at the age of 84. Caroline Mulroney confirmed her father's death in a post on X, saying he died peacefully surrounded by his family. Mulroney served as Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1993. He was known for his environmental and economic policies, including the Acid Rain Reduction Treaty and the NAFTA free trade agreement. Last summer, Mulroney underwent heart surgery and in April was treated for prostate cancer in Montreal.
Following Mulroney's death, the Canadian House of Commons adjourned its session on Thursday. Mulroney remained a respected statesman in the international community. He became a business consultant and held high-paying management positions on the boards of major global corporations.
