Food prices continue to rise in Canada; meat and coffee at the top of the list
Food prices in Canada continue to rise, with Canadians spending about 4% more on groceries in September 2025 than they did last year.
Among staples, some items such as coffee, meat, nuts, chocolate, fruit juice and even cucumbers have seen significant price increases. In particular, the price of roasted and ground coffee has increased by 41% and ground beef by 17%.
Experts attribute the main reasons for this increase to widespread droughts, reduced production, increased global demand and trade tariffs.
However, the price of some products such as berries has decreased slightly. However, analysts warn that if this trend continues, the cost of everyday purchases and even holiday spending will be heavier than ever for Canadian families.
