Fly with free girls training in Saskatoon
The Mitchinson Flight Center in Saskatoon helped the girls on Saturday with their annual "Girls in Flight" event.
To help increase interest in aviation, girls between the ages of eight and 18 were offered free entry to board one of the planes at Mitchinson Flight Center.
Brooke Tower was with the Flight Center who helped organize the event.
"Our initial focus was girls in aviation. We're definitely a minority," Tower said.
Flights rotated throughout the day and more than 160 girls had the opportunity to see Saskatoon from a bird's eye view.
"Girls can do it too. It's not just boys and it's not that hard to fly," Tower said.
The morning started with clear skies, but strong winds blew in with wildfire smoke, forcing a number of flights to be rescheduled.
