Early elections begin in Canada: Early voting across the country
Early voting begins in Canada: Early voting nationwide
OTTAWA — Early voting for Canada’s federal election, which is scheduled for April 28, begins today. The early voting period is available from Friday to Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (local time in each jurisdiction).
Voters must bring valid identification, such as a voter information card, bank statement, driver’s license, or birth certificate. Early voting is also available until April 23 at Elections Canada offices or by mail-in ballot.
The deadline to register to vote by mail is April 22. Note that once you register to vote by mail, you cannot vote in person during the early voting period or on election day.
Nearly 5 million people voted early in 2019, and about 5.8 million in 2021, according to Elections Canada.
