King Charles reflects on war, suffering and heroism in Easter message
In his annual Easter message, King Charles addressed war, human suffering and the heroism of those who risk their lives to protect others.
“One of the mysteries of humanity is how we are able to carry out both great acts of violence and kindness,” he said, describing it as “the paradox of human life.”
“At one moment, there are horrific images of human suffering, and at another, heroic acts in war-torn countries where good people of all kinds are risking their lives to save others.”
Charles, 76, will then attend the Royal Mandi Service at Durham Cathedral in England, where 76 men and 76 women will receive symbolic gifts of special coins, an age-old tradition given to individuals in recognition of Christian service.
“There are three virtues the world still needs — faith, hope and charity,” Charles said. "And the greatest of these is love," a reference to a passage from the New Testament.
