Disney cruise ship rescue team saves girl and father after overboard fall
A Disney cruise ship rescue team rescued a little girl who had fallen overboard and her father, who had jumped in to save her, from the sea.
The incident occurred Sunday as the Disney Dream cruise ship was returning from the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on the final day of its cruise, according to the Associated Press. The ship's crew responded quickly after being notified that the passengers had fallen overboard and pulled the father and daughter from the water in a lifeboat.
"Thankfully, the Disney Rescue Team was very quick to respond and rescued both of them," passenger Kevin Furuta wrote on social media.
It is not yet clear how the girl fell overboard.
"We appreciate the skill and quick action of our crew who got these two guests back on board safely within minutes," Disney said in a statement. "The safety and well-being of our passengers is our top priority, and this incident demonstrates the effectiveness of our safety protocols."
The US Coast Guard has not yet commented on the incident.
