Children’s sleeping bags recalled in Canada over potential suffocation hazard
A nationwide recall of Deuter Micro Star children's sleeping bags has been issued in Canada, according to Health Canada, because the product could pose a potential suffocation hazard to children.
The Canadian health agency is advising consumers to immediately stop using the product and return it to the retailer.
The recall notice, released Monday, states:
"Under certain circumstances, it is possible for a child to become completely encased in the Micro Star sleeping bag, posing a suffocation hazard."
The products affected by the recall include:
Micro Star sleeping bag in wave nightblue (product number: 3722025-1399)
Micro Star sleeping bag in spearmint seagreen (product number: 3722025-2293)
Micro Star sleeping bag in amber maple (product number: 3722025-9908)
As of June 24, the company said, no incidents or injuries had been reported in Canada.
According to the announcement, 70 of these products were sold in Canada between April 2025 and May 2025.
The recall comes after similar products from the company were previously recalled in Germany and France due to a choking hazard. The European Safety Commission warned on June 25:
“The neck of this product is elastic and can increase in diameter; As a result, the child may slip into the sleeping bag and suffocate.”
The warning also states: “The hood design of the sleeping bag can cover the child’s mouth and nose, increasing the risk of suffocation.”
