Confessing to killing her parents and hiding their bodies for four years
A British woman has been found guilty of killing her parents and hiding their bodies in their home for four years while spending their money.
Virginia McCalla, 36, was jailed last Friday after pleading guilty to hiding her mother's body in a wardrobe and building a makeshift grave for her father.
His crimes date back to June 2019. At the time, he used a cocktail to spike the drink of his father, 70-year-old John McCalla, to poison him to death. The next day, he killed his mother, Lois McCalla, 71, with a hammer and a kitchen knife.
According to Virginia prosecutors, McCalla buried his father's body in a homemade grave in his downstairs bedroom and his mother's body in a sleeping bag upstairs in a closet.
After murdering her parents, Virginia not only spent their money but also ran up a lot of debt on their credit cards. He had also spent his parents' pension during this period.
He had told the doctors of his parents and those around them, including his three siblings, that they were either very sick or traveling. The doctor of one of the woman's parents became concerned about their health in September last year and reported it to the police.
