A false fire alarm caused BMO's mobile app to crash
Bank of Montreal (BMO) is scrambling to get its online banking and mobile app back up and running after it was hit by a false fire alarm at one of its data centers.
Users reported problems with the bank's app and website, and a BMO spokesperson responded to the issue on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
"Note: Online banking is currently unavailable due to a technical issue," he wrote on X. Thank you for your patience."
A BMO spokesperson said the service disruption was caused by a fire alarm at one of the data centers.
It is not yet known when the online banking service and mobile application of this bank will return to normal.
Meanwhile, BMO told customers to access their accounts through the BMO ATM network.
