Sex trafficking charges in Ontario and B.C.

Toronto police say a Toronto man has been charged with trafficking a female victim in various parts of southern Ontario and British Columbia for the purpose of providing sexual services.

Police say the case began in June and an investigation revealed that the suspect used deception, coercion and control to coerce the victim into engaging in these activities. All proceeds from the woman’s earnings were also turned over to the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, Jaden Grant-Wonderland, 36, of Toronto, was arrested on July 10.

His charges include: trafficking in persons by solicitation, trafficking by exercise of control, obtaining financial benefit from sexual services, causing or controlling a person to provide sexual services, promoting the sexual services of another person, inducing or soliciting a person to provide sexual services in exchange for money and obtaining financial or material benefit from trafficking a person over the age of 18.

Police said they are concerned there may be more victims in this case and have released a photo of the suspect.

The police statement said:

“We urge anyone affected by such crimes to contact the police and report the incident. Our aim is to ensure that everyone has access to support services and pathways out of these situations, regardless of whether they decide to pursue legal action.”
