Vancouver police are investigating the mysterious poisoning of a man with fentanyl
Vancouver police say they are investigating how a man mysteriously became ill with fentanyl poisoning after a brief encounter with a stranger last week.
They said in a statement that the investigation is focused on how the 56-year-old drug-free man came to be exposed to strong opioids and whether the incident was criminal.
The police say that this man was walking in the Chinatown neighborhood of the city around 9:00 p.m. on Nov. 22, and had a brief collision with someone before crashing.
They say paramedics administered the overdose-reversing drug naloxone and the man was taken to the hospital for fentanyl poisoning.
