Trump attending the U.S. Open as Rolex’s guest despite Swiss tariffs. Any boos may not be seen on TV

US President Donald Trump returned to the US Open tennis tournament after a long absence, this time as a special guest for Rolex, a brand whose own administration imposed a 39% tariff on Swiss products just a few weeks ago.

Trump watched the crucial men’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Yannick Sinner from a Rolex stand. Of course, organizers have said that if the audience booed him, the scenes would not be shown on television.

The tariff has just made Switzerland face a tougher situation than its European and British rivals. However, Trump accepted the Rolex invitation, and even the White House has not commented on the decision.

Since returning to the White House, Trump has been seen at more sporting events, from the Super Bowl and UFC tournaments to the FIFA Club World Cup. He also went to the US Open in 2015, but was booed and protested by the audience.

Alcaraz said it's "an honor" for any president to be involved in sports, but he prefers to focus on the game and ignore the sidelines.
