Toronto mother now facing murder charge in death of four-month old baby
The mother of a baby who was found with severe injuries in downtown Toronto has been arrested on charges of second-degree murder, Toronto police have announced.
The baby was found by police officers at a residential building in the area of Resolven Street and Marley Street after the baby's father reported the four-month-old missing to police.
The child was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The police had previously charged the baby's mother for not providing him with the necessities of life.
An autopsy revealed Monday that 30-year-old Cara Edwards is now wanted on a charge of second-degree murder.
The child's death is now Toronto's 79th homicide of the year and the homicide unit has taken over the investigation, police said.
