The opening of the first new generation SkyTrain in Metro Vancouver
In recent news, the first new generation SkyTrain, the Mark V, has been introduced in the Metro Vancouver area. This new train, with longer length and higher capacity than the previous models, has improved design features and facilities.
The Mark V is capable of carrying 672 passengers normally, and can accommodate up to 1,207 passengers when pushed. These trains are equipped with flexible open spaces, side seats and improved ventilation systems for passenger comfort. Also, live information boards, indicator lights and indigenous artworks will be installed inside the trains.
TransLink has ordered 205 Mark V railcars to gradually replace older models and increase network capacity.
