The Ile-aux-Tourtes bridge will be reduced to one lane per lane for several weeks
Quebec's Department of Transportation has confirmed that traffic on the Ile-au-Tours bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction "for several weeks" starting at least Friday night.
"As of 12:01 a.m. this Saturday, only one lane in each direction will be available on the bridge due to damage to part of the slab," the department's advisory said.
MTQ says workers noticed the damage while removing concrete from the surface of the bridge. "Extensive damage" was discovered underneath, the ministry said.
While the team knew that part of the bridge was in rough shape, the actual condition is worse than expected.
