The historic $68 million jackpot winning ticket has been sold in Toronto

A resident from Toronto has won a historic prize worth 68 million dollars in the lottery. This prize is known as the "Gold Ball Jackpot" and was awarded in a celebration event, marking the largest prize in the history of the Lotto 649 game. The previous largest prize in this game dates back to April 2023 when a 64 million dollar ticket sold in New Brunswick became another lucky winner. Additionally, in 2015, another resident from Mississauga became a winner of a 64 million dollar jackpot in Lotto.
The latest Gold Ball Jackpot, worth 42 million dollars, was claimed on June 14, 2023, by a ticket sold at Niagara Falls. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) recommended all ticket holders to check their tickets to see if they are among the winners. Furthermore, in June, a Lotto Max ticket worth 70 million dollars in Scarborough remained unclaimed after the June 28, 2023 deadline, with no final owner.
