The discovery of the remains of an ancient man during construction on Toronto Street
Construction work on a Toronto street was temporarily halted after human remains were found. Workers were installing a water main on Withrow Avenue, east of Broadview Avenue between East Gerrard Avenue and Danforth Avenue, when they discovered the remains at about 12:30 p.m. Friday.
A spokesman for the Toronto Police Service said in a statement that when an anthropologist came to the area, it was determined that these remains are part of an ancient and indigenous cemetery in this area. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the City of Toronto also announced that construction will be halted until the relevant anthropologist issues further instructions.
