The CEO of Costco Canada announced the price reduction of hundreds of products
As Canadians grapple with high food costs, Costco Canada announced that the company has taken steps to lower prices on hundreds of items over the past year.
Costco has invested in the popular Kirkland Signature brand and has grown the number of Kirkland items by 12 percent over the past four years, Costco CEO Pierre Riel said during Tuesday's House of Commons Agriculture and Agri-Food Committee hearing. He claimed that Kirkland brand items have saved Canadian shoppers at least 20 percent.
"Costco is also investing in domestic suppliers, and 61 percent of Kirkland's products are made in Canada," Reil added. We are always looking to lower our prices. For example, since the beginning of 2023, we have reduced prices on hundreds of items and will continue to do so as long as we can."
