Statistics Canada set to release GDP report for August
Statistics Canada is scheduled to release its August GDP report on Tuesday morning.
The federal agency's release will include preliminary estimates for economic growth in September as well as the third quarter.
RBC says it expects the economy to shrink in the third quarter, marking the second consecutive quarter of contraction.
Recent forecasts from the Bank of Canada show that the economy will remain weak through the end of the year and into 2024.
The central bank hopes this weakness will translate into lower inflation as price growth remains above its two percent target.
