Skater dies while crossing frozen lake near Sue St. Mary
A 58-year-old Sue St. Mary man died early Tuesday afternoon after crossing frozen Trout Lake. Ontario Provincial Police said they were called at 12:15 p.m., along with Aweres Fire, Goulais Fire and Rescue and Sue St. Mary's EMS personnel.
The victim, Andre Rausch, ended up falling into the water when the ice on Trout Lake broke in front of a residence on Point Street in Awers Township. The Environmental Protection Organization announced in a statement: "Emergency workers found his body in the water, but despite the efforts made, his death was confirmed at the scene."
