A lucky Orillia woman buys the winning ticket moments before the drawing
Buying a ticket moments before the lottery was a lucky move for an Orillia woman.
Louise Wilkinson bought her tickets for the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital (OSMH) 50/50 drawing half an hour before the draw on December 28.
Wilkinson won $44,350.
"No way, it's amazing," Wilkinson said after learning of his win. "This is an amazing Christmas present, probably the best I have ever received."
Wilkinson has worked at OSMH as a security guard for 10 years and purchased tickets after seeing a Facebook post from the OSMH Foundation featuring some of the doctors she worked with.
Wilkinson plans to use her grand prize to take her twin sons on a trip to Walt Disney World, a dream she's had since becoming a mother.
As a lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan, he hopes to catch a game or two this season. He also puts money aside for a down payment on a new home for him and his family.
The January Soldiers 50/50 drawing is underway. Two $1,000 early bird prizes will be drawn on January 11th and January 18th.
The deadline for the grand prize draw will be January 25 at 11:59 p.m. Ticket packages start at $10.
