Second warning: Do not consume any cantaloupe brand across Canada until further notice
Following the contamination of several citizens in various Canadian cities with Salmonella, the brands Malichita, Save on Foods, and Urban Fare are issuing a recall for their pre-packaged salads. This includes not only watermelon and complete salads but also pre-cut pieces, fruit salads, and their accompanying trays.
Symptoms of Salmonella infection, such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever, typically manifest after 72 hours. The contaminated products do not exhibit any distinctive odor and are not easily recognizable. Salmonella can pose a serious threat to individuals with weakened immune systems, the elderly, children, and pregnant women.
If you have these salad products in your refrigerator, it is advisable to promptly dispose of them and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. If you have a purchase receipt, you can visit the respective store to receive a refund. Avoid consuming suspected Salmonella-contaminated products, and if any symptoms of infection appear, seek medical attention promptly.
